I Am Still Here

I am a seventy-three year old man attempting to document his life by writing a memoir. Instead of using MS  Word, Google Docs or similar methods, I decided to create a blog.

I am not famous or even interesting, but I hope that some of the essays I write here might be:
A) Useful to others
B) Interesting
C) Humorous
D) Insightful

I say “essays” as that is the format I will use. This won’t be a direct day by day autobiography, but essays written about certain major time periods in my life.

I have suffered with low level depression since birth, anxiety attacks, full blown depressions, generalize fear, self-esteem issues  and a host of similar irritants.  Despite these factors, my life has not been bad. At least, not all bad. I learned to deal with my irritants and still move forward in life. I have had some ups and so deep downs. Divorce, death, bankruptcy, long periods of unemployment and one suicide attempt.

I am still here.

Despite the handicaps, I have worked as a bank manager, as a full-time real estate agent, as an Assistant Dean and Director of Financial Aid at a university, and my favorite job, te4aching college freshmen as an adjunct faculty.

I have earned a Bachelors degree and later a Masters degree with honors.

I have written two books and about fifty short  stories.

Depression, anxiety and regrets haunt me weekly.

I am a believer in Jesus Christ, and mostly because of that…..

I am still here.
